Wasini Island lies in southeast Kenya 3 kilometres off the coast of the Indian Ocean, 75 kilometres south of Mombasa, and 3 kilometres opposite the harbour of the village Shimoni. It is approximately 7 kilometres long and 3 kilometres across.

The Indo-Pacific Humpback Dolphins are also present at Wasini, usually very close to shore or in the channel. They have a small dorsal fin that sits on a hump. They also have a characteristic surfacing pattern, where the long beak comes out of the water at a steep angle before the rest of the head.
Wasini Island is surrounded by pristine coral reefs and therefore offers an amazingly beautiful underwater world – ideal for snorkeling or diving.
There are more than 10 amazing dive sites ranging from 5 to 30 m in the close vicinity of Wasini Island – both inside and outside Kisite Mpunguti National Marine Park. This Marine Park is unquestionably the most beautiful of all parks along the Kenyan Coast and diving is great all year round.
Other than visiting the mangroves and enjoying a tasty meal, the island offers experiential village tours of Wasini people and their culture.
