    The Vasco Da Gama Pillar is a historical monument named after the Portuguese who built it named Vasco Da Gama. It is one of the oldest European monuments in Africa having been built in 1498.

  • Activity 2 Portuguese Chapel

    The Portuguese chapel was built by the Portuguese in the 15th century. It is also known as St. Francis Xavier chapel. It is located at the seafront at Shella Area, Mama Ngina Road in Old Town Malindi; it is sandwiched between flats near Malindi Law CourtsMalindi Law Courts.

  • Activity 8 Hells kitchen marafa

    The colored canyons of Marafa, also known as Hell's Kitchen, is an odd sandstone canyon outside of Malindi, Kenya. Known locally as Nyari - "the place broken by itself" - it was once a great sandstone ridge worn by wind, rain, and floods into a series of jagged gorges. The layer-cake colors of the sandstone reveal whites, pinks, oranges, and deep crimsons, making the gorge particularly striking at sundown, when tones of the ribbed sandstone gullies are highlighted and mirrored by those of the setting sun.
